Correspondences with Ghosts

Each piece in the "Correspondence with Ghosts"  is a digital compilation of photographs of burned letters written to a friend who has passed.  Tory was queer but faced an enormous amount of pressure from her church to be straight so despite several secret love affairs with other women, she died before coming out.  Her life death has shaped me in so many ways and I have maintained a steady correspondence with the void of her absence via letters that are burned, buried, or carried away in a body of water.  Remnants of these rituals are digitally combined, then printed, and combined with falling windows to finish the image.  The final image echoes the infinite cosmos where the friend who has departed may reside.  The piece speaks to loss and preserves the memory of both the person and letter writing rituals.
