Binding is a variation on a structure taught by Nikki Thompson of Deconstructed Artichoke Press in her 

Pamphlets & Concertinas: Falling Book Structure workshop.  That specific structure is based on a variation of the spine-pleat inspired by Kumi Korf’s work.
